Accessibility
Motonect should be usable by everyone, including people who use a screen reader, voice control, larger text or reduced motion. This page lists what works today, what we're still improving, and how to get help.
What the app supports
- Dark mode: the website and apps follow your device's light or dark setting.
- Reduced motion: when Reduce Motion is on, page slides and image zoom effects switch off.
- Contrast: text and controls meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast in both light and dark mode.
- Not by colour alone: statuses (In review, Sold, Approved) are written in words, required fields are labelled, and errors are described in text.
- Screen readers and voice control: buttons, links and form fields have names that match what you see. Pop-up windows keep focus inside them, close with Escape, and return you to where you were. Page changes are announced.
- Keyboard: every page has a "Skip to main content" link and a visible focus outline.
Tasks we test
We check these tasks with VoiceOver, Voice Control, Dark Mode, Reduce Motion and Increase Contrast before each release:
- Opening the app for the first time and browsing the home page
- Searching and filtering cars, parts and services
- Opening a car and viewing its photos, details and price
- Creating an account, signing in and resetting a password
- Messaging a seller, making an offer and booking a test drive
- Paying a deposit (the card form is Stripe's secure checkout page)
- Listing your car for sale
- Changing settings and notifications, and deleting your account
- Reporting a listing and blocking someone
Known limitations
- Larger Text: the apps don't yet scale with iOS Dynamic Type to 200%. On the website you can zoom your browser to 200% and every page reflows. We're working on in-app text sizing.
- Photos uploaded by sellers may not have detailed descriptions. Each photo is labelled with the car's year, make and model.
- The deposit card form is provided by Stripe and follows Stripe's own accessibility standards.
- The app has no video or audio content, so captions and audio descriptions don't apply.
